Graduate of the Athens University School of Law (Faculty of Economics) (1978-1981).
Master of Business Administration (MBA) (specialised in marketing) at the City University of London and Diploma in Market Research at the British Market Research Society (1981-1982). Doctorate awarded by the National Kapodistrian University of Athens (2010).
Activities in the field of communications and in non-governmental organisations (1985-2006); Founder of two communications companies; Adviser to the PrimeMinister (1989 and 1990-1993); Adviser to the Minister for National Defence (1989); Director-General of the E21 Research Centre (1994-1999).
Member of the New Democracy Election Committee responsible for political planning (1989, 1990, 1993); Secretary-General of the Liberal Party (1999-2000).
From 2003 to 2006: Deputy Mayor, Deputy Mayor responsible for Finance, Chairman of the Mayoral Committee, Municipal Councillor in the City of Athens; Chair of the Board of Directors of the 'Dipli Anaplasi' company and of the Athens Organisation for Tourism; responsible for coordination of the Olympic Games for the City of Athens and Deputy City Manager for the 2004 Olympic Games.
2006 to 2009: Secretary-General for International Economic Relations and Development Cooperation in the Greek Ministry of the Interior; Special Representative for Climate Change in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Chair of the Interministerial Committee for the Protection of Intellectual Property.
