This paper was drawn up by the Liberal and Democrat group in the European Parliament following a number of discussions on recent high profile cross-border merger cases in the EU.
It serves as a guide to Liberal Democrat thinking in this area at European level and a statement of principles to guarantee free, fair and open competition in Europe's Single Market.
