Introduction
 
The ALDE group this week will be focusing attention on progress made at the Lahti informal summit in Finland on Europe's future energy supplies as well as how the issue of human rights and press freedoms can be raised with President Putin. Next week will also see Parliament's first reading of the 2007 budget and the announcement of this year's Sakharov prize winner for democracy and freedom of thought.
