The Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement (CETA) between the EU and Canada is the second of 'new generation' trade agreements after the EU-Korea FTA in 2011, which the EU is likely to conclude in the second half of 2012.
The seminar will bring together some of the main political stakeholders and business representatives affected by the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement, currently negotiated between the European Union and Canada, to discuss the benefits and challenges of closer trade relations between the two powers.
Representatives of the European agriculture and pharmaceutical sectors as well as Canada's main trading companies are invited to the seminar to discuss the possible opportunities and shortcomings of the agreement. Furthermore, insiders to the ongoing negotiations will be able to present a state of play and shed further light onto the institutional process, at the end of which Members of the European Parliament will have to give their consent.
Shirin Wheeler, BBC Host of 'The Record Europe', is invited to moderate the event to ensure an engaging discussion.
