Information and communication technology has profoundly changed the economy and our lives in the last 15-20 years. It will continue to do so in the next decade, and the EU has therefore put these issues at the core of the Europe 2020 strategy. The European Commission has published several documents setting the scene for the measures that need to be adopted in the future - The Digital Agenda communication, the Broadband Strategy, as well as legislative proposals for a first five-year Radio Spectrum Policy Programme and for the extension of the mandate of the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA).
This high-level seminar aims at giving an overview of the key challenges in implementing Europe's digital agenda, setting the right objectives, implementing an adequate legislative framework to foster investments and competition, so that the ICT sector can contribute to Europe's economic growth and social development.
