One of the most important priorities of the European Union at this moment is the improvement of the interconnection of Member States' infrastructures, in particular energy and transport.

In this context and in view of the upcoming proposals from the European Commission on the Multiannual Financial Framework and on the Trans-European Networks, the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats in the European Parliament (ALDE) decided to take an integrated look at these proposals.

As a first step, on 1 June 2011 we will organise a hearing entitled “Connecting Europe’s Transport and Energy Infrastructures”. It will examine  the EU involvement in the Trans-European Networks as well as the policy options to make it more efficient and consistent.
