Tourism : New Challenges for Europe after the Adoption of the Lisbon Treaty

12/10/2011
Event date: Wednesday 12 October 2011 from 16:30 to 19:00
Location: BRUSSELS EP JAN4Q1

The Treaty of Lisbon created a completely new legal basis for "tourism" giving both the Commission and Parliament a new competence in this field. Tourism is the third sector of the economy and employment in Europe. We need to develop, in line with the Europe 2020 strategy, a series of proposals to promote smart, sustainable and inclusive growth in all aspects of the tourism sector in Europe.

This workshop will provide an overview of the new political framework for tourism in Europe after the adoption of the Lisbon Treaty followed by a presentation of innovative proposals and projects for the development of tourism to illustrate the variety that this sector can offer.
